Background of NRad

Hello and welcome to our new web site. We are a small group of like-minded people who like to show off and in a lot of cases make fools of ourselves.

Founded Oct 2017, New Romney Am Dram (NRad) was formed to give the residents of New Romney and the surrounding areas a chance to perform in Pantomimes, Cabarets, Plays and Musicals. NRad is a very friendly group, which prides itself on its openness, inclusivity and professionalism. Members aged 16-80 ensure that the group has an active and varied social life which includes fundraising events and social get-togethers!

Our first show was at Easter 2018 and was Jack Frost's Easter Adventure, a traditional pantomime especially written for us by Derek Ruby who has Written, Produced ,Directed and Performed in many Pantomimes in the past. This was our opportunity to show what talent New Romney has and what a great show we can put on and we smashed it!

We are very proud to have formed a partnership with The Marsh Academy where we hope to perform all our productions. This has a purpose-built theatre with 248 seats and disabled access and we are very excited to be able to use such a professional venue.
During productions we rehearse on Monday evenings at The Plough Pub at 7.30pm (thanks Chris) and Wednesday evenings in The Scout Hut, New Romney, also at 7.30pm.

NRad always welcomes new members of any ability. There is no audition to join the group and members are encouraged to get involved in any capacity, whether on stage, behind the scenes with costumes, scenery building, crew, publicity, promotion or front of house. all we ask is a small joining fee of £20 to cover insurance and admin. We also charge a small show fee for the cast members for each production we stage.

The group is run by a small group of founder members, but we welcome any ideas and suggestions for future productions.
